Anna French Wallpaper

In 1976 the designer Anna French left London with her husband John for a disused Victorian lace mill in Scotland, and began by making lace. That beginning still shows in every design: a fineness of line, a lightness of touch and a fondness for the motif that only gives itself up on closer inspection. Today the brand belongs to Thibaut, America's oldest wallpaper house, where it is the romantic with the English accent.

The newest collections are Clermont, inspired by the French countryside, with floral motifs, organic block prints, palampore styles and a mural, and Bristol, a garden of climbing ferns, fluttering butterflies and blossoming flowers drawn from the English countryside. Belvedere conjures the romance of a garden estate, with soft florals, drifting clouds, pearlised embroidered wallcoverings and large-scale paisleys.

Devon celebrates Anna French's own heritage with reproductions of antique documents, English florals, scenic murals and crisp gingham checks, while Antilles draws on 18th century French provincial designs, Indiennes prints and traditional stripes. Willow Tree and Watermark complete the range.
